slot array antenna

Abstract. Radial line slot array (RLSA) antenna was initially developed for satellite antenna receivers at a frequency of Ku-band. The success of this development inspired researchers to continue the study to other bands and other applications, such as Wi-Fi at 5.8 GHz.

Multiple slots act as a directive array antenna and can emit a narrow fan-shaped beam of microwaves. They are used in standard laboratory microwave sources used for research, UHF television transmitting antennas, antennas on missiles and aircraft, sector antennas for cellular base stations, and particularly marine radar antennas. A slot antenna ...

waveguide slot array antenna is explained, and also the analysis model to design the element is discussed as well as the scattering matrix in connecting the equivalent circuit with a transmission line. Finally, the design examples for one-dimensional and two-dimensional arrays of the waveguide slot antennas are explained. Keywords

Using the proposed method, slot array antennas with uniform and Chebyshev distribution of slots are designed. Finally, a prototype of a designed antenna is fabricated and its reflection coefficient and radiation pattern are measured to provide an experimental verification.

Slotted array antennas are popularly used in radar applications, in which case design standards require mechanical robustness and high gains. Because the power transmission of radar antennas is very high, slot array antennas are preferred alternatives to planar arrays.

Slotted waveguide antenna arrays are used in radar, communication and remote sensing systems for high frequencies. They have linear polarization with low cross-polarization and low losses but can also be designed for dual polarizations and phase steered beams.

Array of slotted waveguides fed by a single source. By stacking waveguides as shown in Figure 1, the E-plane beamwidth can be greatly reduced. In addition, by adding a phase delay to each waveguide, the array of waveguides can be steered in the E-plane (see phased arrays basics ).
